A Fundraiser’s Video Story

>> Business Stories, People, Video Stories

Northamptonshire business woman Ann Brebner fundraised through 2020 for The Lewis Foundation and asked me to create something that put the year together into a story, showing off the fundraising events, the businesses that had supported her and how much she had raised.

We talked through the year and made notes on what Ann should include in a series of videos.  Ann then did those in her own work space, sent them over to me and I edited them, added some photos and music.

It works all round, spreading awareness of The Lewis Foundation and shouting out for the the local businesses that got involved.

If you have a story that you would like putting together in a similar way, don’t be shy, drop me a hello.

Video for a Lewis Foundation Campaign

>> Video Stories

Lorraine and Lee of The Lewis Foundation asked me to be one of their Ambassadors for their Lap of Honour fundraising campaign.  Perfect! A chance to meet new people, come up with ideas, pick up the Quik app again to put some videos together and generally have some fun.

This is a video I put together for Sheila Smith who did her Lap of Honour with, and on, her beloved Pip.

The Lewis Foundation – A Packing Night

>> Video Stories

The Lewis Foundation is a Northampton based charity that provides comfort and happiness to cancer patients receiving treatment in hospitals in counties Northants, Bucks, Leics, Beds and Luton.  They do this by handing out useful and fun gift bags every week, and by taking the time to chat while with them.

I went along to one of The Lewis Foundations packing nights, when volunteers pack up to 700 gift bags. I took a few photos and quick video clips and put them together into this 1 minute video.

Video for Birchfield Life

>> Business Stories, Video Stories

Elyse of Birchfield Life had been thinking of doing some videos about her flower garden for a while but just wasn’t getting round to it.

So she asked if I would spend an hour with her to get things started – as we all know starting is sometimes the hardest part.

We took some time to work out what part of her garden Elyse wanted to talk about and how we were going to split her chat into 3 ‘scenes’.  Elyse didn’t want anything too long which we agreed was a good idea for the first attempt.

We put together this short video in about 45 minutes – following the plan but also making things up a little too.  We kept things very natural and I think Elyse was a pro, she was very relaxed chatting to my iPhone!

🤣 Now I know this isn’t the most exciting pho 🤣 Now I know this isn’t the most exciting photograph you are going to see today, but I spotted this ‘Velcro’ plant and thought first of my 2 boys, who stand taller than me now but when they were tinier used to stick it on each other’s backs when the other wasn’t looking, and then the #jmhphotochallenge2021
.
🌱Took the photo then got a bit geeky and decided to look up whether there was a more ‘technical’ name for it.
.
Found someone saying it’s been called Catchweed Bedstraw and Stickywilly!
.
Stopped my searching right there, who cares about the boring Latin name, or if there is one, these names make me smile and I like that.
.
If you’ve got a photo with a fun fact to add to it, add the #jmhphotochallenge2021 so we can all have a smile 😆
.
Challenge 1: IN YOUR HANDS

It’s a cold Sunday morning here in Northampton. It’s a cold Sunday morning here in Northampton. Ventured out briefly to get these pretty, frosty leaves in my hand.
.
It says we might get snow so maybe I’ll get a snowball later. Anyone got snow now?
.
If you want to get involved in this photo challenge, it’s easy and for everyone. We’re taking pics that work with the words ‘In Your Hands’’ at the moment. All you have to do is take a picture that fits and then share it using the #jmhphotochallenge2021 so we can all see.
.
Make sense?

The #JMHPhotoChallenge2021 - we skipped 2020 but The #JMHPhotoChallenge2021 -
we skipped 2020 but its back and Challenge 1 is: ‘IN YOUR HANDS’.
.
This is for every kind of photo and photographer, no matter how good or not so good you are.
.
It’s about keeping your pics as simple and/or creative as you like. About taking time to really see what’s around you, whether that’s indoors or out. It may just be a reason to venture out. Most of all though, it’s about having some fun.
.
In 2019 the challenge was about spotting colours, which changed monthly. This year, it could be about anything and may change after a day, week or month - so keep a look out!
.
This is how it works. Check to see what the ‘challenge’ is then keep a look out:
.
1. You may spot something, or set it up
2. Snap it
3. Post it with a bit of why and where (if you want)
4. Remember to use the # (above)
5. Chat to whoever says hello
