We are spending hours on social media creating, sharing and/or watching videos from educational to just plain daft. Did you know that 5 billion videos are watched on YouTube every day – thats BILLION, not million, how mad is that! We may not be able to afford the cost of advertising our businesses on television but who needs to when there are much easier and cheaper ways we can splash our business story around on social media.
We all know that coming up with new ideas to promote our business and reach new people is tough. The right photographs are incredibly engaging, you know that’s one of my passions, but video is becoming more and more popular and we all need to be doing it. Video messages puts you right in front of your clients, you can talk to them about everything from your big projects to the little details of your business. Its so important these days for people to see right into the heart of what we do. They want to meet us, see our products and hear about our services.
Now, not everyone is high end and your videos don’t have to be either. It’s the content that is important and how you as a person come across. The more natural, honest and conversational the video is, the better – don’t get carried away with talking too much though, we dont want to lose viewers before the end of our message!
I did my first video story with a client of mine back in March. I had started posting videos on my FB page and had gone through the awkwardness of talking to my camera, not knowing what to say, pulling funny faces when I had gone wrong and generally looking a little chaotic, so when Elyse called me to say she wanted to give a video a go for a vlog I thought why not. We met at Elyses flower garden and did the video right in the middle of it.
Putting a video together in an environment you are comfortable in helps straightaway. Last week I met up with another client, Cathy of Rose-NV, in The Italian Shop which is just over the road from her salon. It was a hot day, Cathy was a little nervous, but keen to get going. We had only planned to chat for the time our coffees took to drink but it was such a lovely atmosphere we decided to do a video right then and there – learning as we went along! Cathys video can be seen on her FB page, this video we did back in her salon.
If you need a little help to get over that first video hurdle give me a call on 07887 535112. In just an hour I’ll get you feeling much happier with the process and you will have a video ready to post on social media. My hourly rate is £45.
