A PhotoWalk is you, walking, with your eyes open for a photo. Maybe a 10 minute walk to get some lunch, an hours walk with the dog or a long family walk at the weekend. Looking for something in particular while walking gets you focussing on what you are doing, rather than what you need to do when you have finished walking!
If you have not read, or heard about, my monthly photo challenge, either on my blog or FB page, then, each month I am choosing a colour for us to look out for. January was grey, February was purple and MARCH is green.
This is a collection of my February Purples, with a mini story on why and where I took them. Excited to say that this month I have also included some photographs sent in by you lovely people. I love that you have taken up the photo challenge and hope to see some March Green.
A Purple Palace
In Abington to take photos at the offices of a local business, just driving down one of the lovely terraced house streets and spotted this one. Found a spot to park and walked back to take a photo. What do you think? Its definitely a statement colour and new friends and visitors will have no problem finding them. I wonder if they warned their neighbours.
The Northampton Cleaning Fairy
I have been taking photos for Northants business woman Ann Brebner for nearly 2 years. Last year she turned 50 (she won’t mind me telling you that!) and set herself a challenge to raise money for local charity The Lighthouse Centre, by spending 50 hours cleaning in 50 different homes for people that needed help due to illness. Ann asked me to take some photos of her with the cheque she was handing over to the Lighthouse Centre, this one was one of my favourites.
Graffiti on a Run
Some of you may know that I run, usual distances are between 5km and 10km, as part of a WhatsApp group of 8 people. We have each challenged ourselves to a distance that we must reach by the end of the year. Our distances are different, mine is 550km, the longest is 2350km – I’m not joking! Running gives me time to think, with no distractions its perfect. I also cant help the odd photo, love running along the canal and finding graffiti.
An Irish Walk
At the beginning of February my husband and I stayed with some friends in Ireland for a night. We walked a rugged coast line to a little place called Clogher. This was the biggest splash of purple I saw all month, popped in for a half a Guiness.
Colour on a PhotoShoot
Purple stationery getting in on a photoshoot I did with Northants writer Natalie of Writer for You. I spent 2 hours with Natalie creating Message Boards for her to use on her social media sites, never had a black cat walking over my ‘work’ before, that was a first!
Living close to open country side is a joy when the sun is shining, you meet up with a friend and head out for a walk. Spot our muddy suede boots – oops – we hadn’t remembered the recent rain, which would make fields muddy in places where the cows congregate. Had to walk through one of those such spots, twigs were used to scrape boots clean and on we went, stepping around this lovely little cluster of crocuses growing in a pretty precarious position.
I have a little Yorkshire terrier called Georgie, who is with me as often as I can manage and some of you will have met. Being quite small she can be a little nervous of large dogs running towards her which can make a walk very stressful for her. I met with Nathan Watson in February who introduced us to a Clik-R, which seems to be working. George spots dog, nervousness, I click, her attention switches to me, distraction, she gets a treat and relaxes. if you need any similar help have a look at Nathans website: http://www.dogrehab.co.uk
The Magic of Nature
I know I have already posted purple crocuses but come on, these are so pretty, had to share some more.
Someones trying. A sarcastic, friendly, little annoyed, polite, desperate, funny way of asking as nicely as possible, “to pick up that bloody poo”.
Here are PURPLES sent in from some lovely JMH friends
If you want to be a part of the JMHColourPhotoChallenge just post the photos you take on to my FB page, don’t forget to add a few words about where and why you took the photo and add #JMHColourPhotoChallenge.
This month, MARCH we are all about GREEN.
Bye for now x
